One of my brothers-in-law, whom I had the pleasure of visiting on our recent vacation, was asking me about how our family homeschools, and whether it was easier for me, since I have a teaching background. I hadn't given that a lot of thought in the past, since the two are so utterly different; but I really began to warm to the topic as I thought through how my "teaching style" had developed through the years. I was distracted for a moment by one of the kids, and when I looked up, he was gone.
"Where's Jim?" I asked.
"Outside. Barbecuing the chicken."
"Too bad," I said wistfully. "I was really enjoying hearing myself talk!"
